DEACON/DEACONESS

The Order of Deacon and Order of Deaconess are Holy Orders conferred upon qualified persons by a bishop of the church. The requirements for being ordained as a deacon or deaconess are:

  1. Complete the Gnostic Lessons
  2. Complete a college education or its equivalent
  3. Become a sustaining member of the Intentional Prayer Project, or
  4. Complete the 8/8 studies of the Octagon Society, or
  5. Complete the 1 = 10 studies of the Magical Order of the Golden Dawn, or
  6. Complete the studies of an Apprentice Essene Healer, or
  7. Complete the 3rd degree studies of Esoteric Freemasons

After completing the minor orders you and your priest need to petition a bishop to supervise your continuing studies leading up to ordination as a deacon or deaconess. You will continue your studies under the direct supervision of your priest and the occasional supervision of your bishop.

The Universal Gnostic Fellowship tradition is that a college education or it's equivalent is required of all persons desiring to become a deacon or deaconess. Life experience can be used to satisfy this requirement as can independent study, attendance at seminars and workshops. The tradition for priests and priestesses is they are also required to have several courses relating directly to their ministry. A master's degree or its equivalent is required of all bishops in the church. Any person who otherwise qualifies for ordination or consecration may be conditionally ordained or consecrated with the agreement the individual will satisfy those conditions within a period of two years.

The sacraments of Baptism, Naming, Unction, Healing and Supreme Unction may be performed by a deacon or deaconess. The sacraments of Confession, Forgiveness and Holy Communion may be also performed by deacons and deaconesses in the absence of a priest or priestess and only under the supervision and with the permission of a bishop.

Deacons and deaconesses may Purify, Clear and Cleanse any living or non-living thing. To purify is to remove any and all negativity of any kind from the Soul of the person, place or thing being purified. To Clear is to remove any and all negativity of any kind from the astral body of the person, place or thing being cleared. To Cleanse is to remove all negative energy of any kind from the physical body and aura of the person, place or thing being cleansed.

Deacons and deaconesses may Bless, Sanctify, Hallow and Dedicate any person, animal, plant, rock or mineral, place or object in the name of Deity. To Bless is to make Holy any living thing and invite the Holy Spirit to touch into the life of this person or thing and help relieve their pain and suffering and the pain. To Hallow is to make Holy any non-living place or thing so as to help remove the pain and suffering of all who come in contact with it. To Sanctify is to make Holy any living or non-living thing so the Holy Spirit may reside there. To Dedicate is to give purpose to the existence of the person, animal, plant, rock or mineral, place or thing.

Deacons and deaconesses may ordain any person or anoint any person, animal, plant, rock or mineral, place or thing for a specific purpose only with the permission and under the authority of a priest or priestess.

If you have any questions about this process or these responsibilities, please discuss them with your priest. If you do not have a priest, contact the Church and a priest or bishop will be assigned to assist you.
