An archpriest or archpriestess is a priest or priestess appointed to assist postulants through the major orders.
The office of archpriest or archpriestess also includes the duty of a priest or priestess as the primary mentor and coach to members of the Church; to supervise deacons and deaconesses, to advance candidates through the minor orders, and to be the celebrant for all sacraments and rituals other than the ordination of deacons and priests, deaconesses and priestesses, and the consecration of bishops.
